 6-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

                 

   Type: Private Guided Safari

 Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Transfer to Raha Wildlife Lodge

  • Arrival: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide.
  • Transfer: Enjoy a comfortable transfer to Raha Wildlife Lodge, located on the outskirts of Arusha or near a wildlife reserve (depending on its exact location).
  • Lunch & Dinner: Served at the lodge. Relax and recover from your journey with views of surrounding nature and possibly encounter small game or bird species around the lodge.

Overnight: Raha Wildlife Lodge

 Day 2: Raha Wildlife Lodge – Tarangire National Park – Karatu

  • Breakfast: Early breakfast at the lodge.
  • Transfer: Drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately 2.5 to 3 hours’ drive from Arusha.
  • Tarangire National Park:
    • Known for its iconic baobab trees and massive elephant herds.
    • Home to diverse wildlife such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and buffaloes.
    • Bird lovers can enjoy over 500 bird species, including the yellow-collared lovebird, hornbills, and bustards.
  • Lunch: Served picnic-style at a scenic site around 13:00.
  • Game Drive: Continue exploring the park until 16:45.
  • Transfer to Karatu: Exit the park and drive to Karatu town, a lush highland area near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Overnight: Omega View Hotel, Karatu

Day 3: Karatu – Central Serengeti via Ngorongoro – Night Game Drive

  • Early Departure: After breakfast, head toward the Central Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
  • Scenic Drive: Enjoy views of Ngorongoro highlands and possible sightings of wildlife en route.
  • Serengeti National Park (Central):
    • Famous for the Great Migration and classic African savannahs.
    • Wildlife includes lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and more.
    • Bird species include martial eagles, secretary birds, ostriches, and lilac-breasted rollers.
  • Lunch: Picnic lunch at 13:00 in the heart of the park.
  • Game Drive: Continue exploring until 17:30.
  • Check-in: Arrive at Yellow Barbet Tented Lodge for a quick refresh and dinner.
  • Night Game Drive: After dinner, head out for a 2-hour night game drive.
    • Spot nocturnal animals like aardvarks, porcupines, civets, genets, and possibly leopards and hyenas.
  • Return to lodge for overnight.

Day 4: Central Serengeti – Eastern Serengeti

  • Morning: After breakfast, begin your transfer eastward to the Eastern Serengeti.
  • Eastern Serengeti Region:
    • Less crowded and known for high predator density – especially cheetahs and lions.
    • Open plains ideal for photography and private wildlife experiences.
  • Lunch: Picnic lunch around 13:00.
  • Game Drive: Explore until 17:30 with chances to see:
    • Elephants, bat-eared foxes, elands, servals, and more.
    • Birds such as Kori bustards, vultures, and eagles.
  • Check-in: Arrive at The African Kongoni Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: The African Kongoni, Eastern Serengeti

 Day 5: Eastern Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

  • Early Morning: Depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
  • Descend into Ngorongoro Crater: Around 600 meters deep, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers:
    • A high density of big game, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino).
    • You may also see hippos, wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and flamingos at Lake Magadi.
    • Over 400 bird species.
  • Lunch: Picnic lunch at 13:00 near a hippo pool or scenic area.
  • Afternoon Game Drive: Explore until 16:30.
  • Exit Crater & Transfer to Karatu: Head to Omega View Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Karatu – Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tour – Airport Departure

  • Breakfast: Early breakfast and check-out.
  • Transfer to Mto wa Mbu: A vibrant cultural town located near Lake Manyara.
  • Cultural Tour Highlights:
    • Visit local homes, farms, and banana plantations.
    • Explore local art, crafts, markets, and taste traditional food.
    • Interact with different tribes like the Chagga, Iraqw, and Maasai.
  • Lunch: Served at a local restaurant or community project.
