PF3041 Open Phenolic Resin

Phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF) is a polymer made by polycondensation of phenolic compounds and aldehyde compounds. It is one of the three major synthetic thermosetting resins.

Performance characteristics

Good high temperature performance: The cured phenolic resin has excellent heat resistance due to its aromatic ring structure and high crosslinking density. Generally, at 200°C, the heat resistance of phenolic resin is good. After long-term use at 180°C, it can still maintain its structural integrity and dimensional stability.

High residual carbon rate: When it exceeds 300°C, phenolic resin will decompose and gradually carbonize to form residues, and its residual amount is as high as 60%. At a temperature of 800-2500°C, phenolic resin will generate a layer of carbonized material on the surface of the material.

Low smoke and low toxicity: PF3041 Open Phenolic Resin is mainly composed of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. The combustion products are less toxic. It is easy to form a high-carbon foam structure during the combustion process. It has a good thermal insulation effect and can prevent internal combustion.

Radiation resistance: The radiation resistance itself is poor, but after being reinforced with glass or asbestos, it can become a good radiation-resistant synthetic material.

Strong adhesion: There are a large number of polar groups in the macromolecular structure. The strengthening of polarity can promote its penetration and adhesion. After the finished product is converted into a cross-linked network structure and cured, it can ensure the stability and durability of the bonding interface.

Good chemical stability: It has good stability to water, weak acids, and weak bases. It will decompose when it encounters strong acids and corrode when it encounters strong bases. It is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and ethanol. The cross-linked phenolic resin can resist the decomposition of many chemical components, such as gasoline, ethylene glycol, and various hydrocarbons.
