FRICTION STIR WELDING (FSW) TOOLS

Friction stir welding tool is a critical component in the FSW process. It consists of a rotating shoulder and pin (probe) that generates frictional heat, softens the base material, and mechanically stirs it to form a solid-state joint.

Unlike conventional welding consumables, FSW tools do not melt or deposit material. Instead, they facilitate precise plastic deformation and forge a high-integrity bond between workpieces without filler metals or shielding gases.
